Environmental protection activities

"One Person, One Flower" planting activity

Purpose of the activity:

To increase students' interest in and understanding of planting, thereby strengthening their environmental awareness and sense of responsibility, our school participated in the "One Person, One Flower Planting Scheme" organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The activity started in October 2023 and ended in January 2024. A total of 712 students participated. Students completed the exhibition activity on the Teams platform in early February.

Greening Campus Funding Program -- Organic Farming Group

To enhance students' environmental awareness and cultivate their interest in planting, six planting lessons were conducted during the electives period this school term, targeting students from Primary 4 to Primary 6. A total of 20 students participated. Through the activities, students learned planting knowledge and relevant skills (sowing, fertilizing, watering, harvesting), and experienced the joy of planting, thereby fostering their attitude of cherishing food.

Solar Energy Power System Online Electricity Price Plan - Organic Planting Group (Grades 4-6)

To allow students to experience the joy of planting and share the fruits of their labor with family and friends, our school has participated in an online electricity price plan. We have set up an organic planting activity in the rooftop garden on the 3rd floor, allowing students to cultivate patience and care for the environment, as well as respect and cherish food, during the planting process. This year, 20 students from grades 4-6 learned organic planting through 6 learning sessions and 3 months of planting experience in the second semester.

The students' learning is divided into two stages. In the first stage, with 4 planting sessions, students learn planting techniques such as sowing, watering, fertilizing, weeding, pest control, and harvesting, with teachers guiding them. In the second stage, two more planting sessions are added, and students take care of the crops on their own during a one-month planting period, using their recess time. From the students' shared insights and feelings, it is evident that they have developed a stronger sense of connection and responsibility towards the crops they have grown. Students have also invited their classmates to visit their planting boxes and share the joy of planting.
