As we step into the new school year, on behalf of all staff at APSW, I extend the warmest welcome to everyone! Special greetings to primary one parents and children and transfer students who have joined the APSW family.
Last year, we faced various challenges and experiences, but these have also provided opportunities for us to learn and grow. This year, it all starts with opportunities and expectations. The most commonly heard phrase is ‘setting goals’. Teachers will focus on setting goals for the children, and parents will also set numerous goals, hoping that their children will achieve them throughout the new academic year. However, before setting these goals, have we considered whether they are achievable?
In this A.I. and internet century, we often see the results but overlook the process and assessing how these goals can be achieved. Just like in the recent Olympics, when Hong Kong athletes excelled in fencing and swimming, parents eagerly enrolled their children in related interest classes, hoping that their children would become Olympic medalists in the future. However, have we considered the failures that lie behind success? Parents sometimes have ideas but lack of solutions. Sometimes we only have thoughts but lack of practical actions or execution. Therefore, at the beginning of this new school year, let's all carefully consider how to achieve the goals we have set.
This academic year marks the commencement of the 2024/27 three-year school development plan for APSW. To meet the learning needs of the children and the continuous development of the school, we are focusing on values education to cultivate good moral character in children. We are also optimizing curriculum planning to promote independent learning and cater to diverse learning needs. We aim to emphasize the importance of values education, allowing children to have more successful and joyful experiences in learning, especially learning the spirit of the 4Rs: "Rest, Relaxation, Relationship, and Resilience!"
Over the summer break, the campus underwent a series of improvements and new constructions to meet the learning needs and development pace. It now awaits the return of the children with a refreshed appearance. Additionally, we have updates on parental involvement policies, new developments, and trends. To provide a deeper understanding, we invite you to attend the first parent meeting on 14th September (Saturday) morning. This event will be an opportunity to meet your child's class teacher and our teaching team to share the development plans for the year. Besides, the first parent seminar of the year will also be taken place on the same day. For more details, please refer to the upcoming school notice to parents.
Parents will receive a lot of information at the beginning of the year and it really takes time to understand. Besides, you may also need to overcome various worries and challenges with your children. However, APSW as a big family, we will walk together and experience your child's growth. We hope that your child will have a joyful and meaningful six years of primary school life at APSW. Our team is united, relying on and looking up to our heavenly Father, guiding children to walk with Jesus and to face any challenges with a positive attitude. We hope that this year will bring diverse experiences for the children to learn, serve, respect, and always walk with the heavenly Father, growing healthily.
Wishing everyone a year filled with physical, mental, and spiritual health, and abundant learning achievements for the children in the new school year.
